Formally Hulhudhelee School established in 1980 in the name of Hulhudhlee Makthab although education provided to the Hulhudhelee Community in different names before it established in the formal education.
In 1983 Hulhdhelee Makthab’s name changed to Hulhudhelee School. In the long term history since 1950 Hulhudhelee people are striving for education. Hulhudhelee education had provided since 1950 onwards and the name of the school changed five times. The history shows that in 1950 during President Mohamed Amin regime Hulhudhelee Rayyithunge Madharusa eshtablished and in 1960 the name changed Hulhudhelee Makthabul Noor. Again in 1968 name changed Makthabul Jihad after that the name changed to Hulhudhelee Makthab in 1971 finally Hulhudhelee School eshtablied and registered as an institution in 1980 during President Maumoon’s regime.
The school ran under the supervision and guidance of the island administration until 1st August 2005. The school become an independent body after that, hence August 2005 school can communicate to Ministry of Education directly, before all the documentation finance and school related issues can be exchange through Hulhudhelee Island Administration.
In 2005 Hulhudhelee island community contributed a great
contribution to develop education of the island. The island community shared their
views and ideas to develop formal education because the government resources
are limited, thus everyone in the community was given MVR 100 for each month to
the school to build a Library and a Computer Lab, (i.e. resource Centre) people
those who can contribute more than that they welcomed.
The project completed within one and half year, after that Library
Service and Computer Lab Service started to provide Hulhudhelee School’s
students.
Numbers of books provide by the Ministry of Education, Asia
Foundation and a donor Mohamed Zuhair of Hulhudheli donated huge amount of
Books in different occasions.
Kanuhura Resort and Maafannu Villa Gasim Ibrahim donated 20
Computer systems to the School Resource Centre.
Huldhudhelee School community members’ highly appreciated to Honourable
Gasim Ibrahim and other contributors as well for their wonderful contributions
to the School Resource Centre. In 2013 Gasim Ibrahim donated 5 smart boards 20
computer systems, 55” HD TV and 5 Laptops to the School.
